So what kind of Red Dot have you mounted on your shotgun? Looking for something to put on a bullpup shotgun so I think I’ll need something that I can put on a small riser to get a sight picture.

What have you found that can hold up to the punishment?

T2 on my 1301, I've tried vortex, holosun and others and the aim point has the closest thing to a "dot" of any of them. I have an astigmatism and red dots look more like * to me. I'll also add in hindsight I would have been ok with saving the cash and running a XS dot up front, for HD ranges they're more than adequate. I still love the t2 though, great sight.

I have used SIG Romeo 5's on two shotguns and have had zero issues. For cheap money I wanted to see what they could take. Have been surprised.

Zero need. Take that money, and use it towards time shooting clays. You will learn how to properly use a shotgun, and become a better overall shooter. Plus it’s great fun.

I don't think a shotgun is an especially tough environment for a red dot.

Slide mounted optics on centerfire pistols have a really rough life. It's not just the recoil, its the sharp stop of the slide, and then the slam back into battery. And these days, slide mounting has become the most common way to use small optics. So get any relatively recent and good quality optic, and it will be fine.

I’d agree but have a dedicated over under for clay games. This is a bull pup and more of a range fun toy.
I will post something similar to what I post in every thread asking for red dot advice.

Order 2 or 3 from Amazon, look through them, return the ones you don't like.

Amazon makes it very easy. They won't ban you for returning a couple of items.

I have a Primary Arms MD-25 on my DP12. The ACSS reticle with the horseshoe and chevron gives a decent visualization of 00 buck spread. Just ignore the BDC dots.

That looks nice.

If the OP wants a big circle with a DOT, Holosun has a couple with different size circles. I think one is a 32 MOA circle, I forget the other.

I have seen people use them for Steel Challenge, I was told they turn the dot off and use the circle. The circle helps them with the 10" and 12" plates at steel challenge distance.

That might be a great option for shotgun.

Mmmm. Bullpup sshotguns. We have a Centurion BP-12 for predator control. Fantastic for smaller stature kids or wives.

Aimpoint if you want something indestructible you can drop out of a helicopter. More or less anything over $100 for a toy gun. Sig, Primary, etc.

I was just using my G20 on plates at 25 yds and found that the 32 MOA ring in the SCS almost perfectly fit around them. It felt really intuitive.

When I replaced my MeproLight M21 Bullseye-Dot on my Tavor X95 2ith a Trijicon, I put the M21 on my Saiga 12g folder. It works just fine. A Holosun 507c would be my next choice, if I had to buy one. Circle-dots are quick acquisition and great for shotguns.

I only have one question why?
I’m sorta with this ^

No real need for a dot in my opinion. However! I kinda see a slight possibility if it is a dot and a circle.

Thinking it might (depending on the choke) sorta give you a quick (as in this area) possibility of a hit vs a precision aim of a small dot

Just thinking out loud.

I put the Vortex Strikefire 2 on basically everything and on my VR80 as well as my VRBP100 bullpup. Love it. I have seen a lot of good things about the Romeo 5, wouldn't be opposed to trying one. I actually don't use a riser for any of them I believe. I keep a super tight cheek weld though.

So, I got a Cmore with a 16MOA dot, that I think is perfect for Steel challenge. If I don't like it, I can replace the dot with a 12MOA, or smaller dot.

The thing is brighter than the sun at full setting, I think the reflection burnt my eye.
