Sending my slide for my m and p out to get a burris red dot installed. There is an option to have the suppressor sight before the red dot or after the red dot...anyone have any experience on which is better? Seems like most have the rear sight before the red dot but when i called the smith who does this he suggested the sights after the red dot. Any thoughts or experience? Supposedly doing them after gives a more unobstructed view of the red dot, does make sense to me.

The location of the striker block on the M&P somewhat limits where the optic mounting holes can go. I cut my slide for a RMR, it fit neatly at the far back if the slide, with its mounting holes just behind the striker block, if I wanted to run a iron sight it would have to go in front of my optic.
The mounting holes of your sight may be the same, or may require the opposite

I just got my M&P9 back from Bowie. I did the RMR at the rear with the BUIS in front and it works perfectly

I understand going that way, makes sense it would be better then back ups behind but just wanna make sure cause its one decision and its done haha. Did you find the red dot to be worth it? Big difference?

I have yet to try it out on the range, it was just out of the box when I wrote the 1st post. The red dot is very easy to pick up in the window and with it mounted to the rear, it still fits in most holsters, no so with the red dot in the front. I went with this because I had an extra slide and got the RMR on the big sale they had. I had the RMR on my M&P R8, but it was too high mounted on top of the N frame revolver.
