Refinish AR-15 Lower Receiver

Hello

I'm looking to get one of my pre-ban lowers refinished. It isn't banged up - it's just colt grey and I would like it in black to match the upper i'm putting on it. Anyone have a recommendation for a good anodizing place that will take lowers? Someone who has done them before preferably. They would have to have a FFL so they can be shipped my lower.

Specifically I'm looking to avoid stripping away the existing anodize from the pin holes as they won't show anyway. I want an exta thick Type II layer, 2 mils thick. A thick layer will avoid the metallic look inappropriate on ARs.

Any recommendations are appreciated.

Yeah I dura coated inter cooling pipes on a race car lol. That stuff pretty good.

You might want to talk to US Anodizing (www.usanodizing.com). They did a Type III on an EA lower for me a couple years ago, which came out great, and they hit their delivery estimate. It does appear the prices have gone up a bit since then, I notice. They do Type II as well.

Unless your hellbent on getting it anodized I'd Duracoat or Cerakote it.

Who cares about the color, how does it shoot?

Good luck on making your rifle pretty, having the lower & upper match.
Duracoat will work for not a lot of money.

+1 dura coat .
If you get the kit so you don't need a air brush any one can do it. As long as you know how to use spray paint you can dura coat.
