I was looking at my P225 today, and it has seen better days I suppose.

The finish is looking a bit warn on the slide, the night sights could use replacing, and since Sig Sauer's are known for needing spring kits once in a while I was thinking of bringing it over to Exeter and dropping it off for a refinish and tune up

I'm wondering if it is really worth throwing 300 bucks into a 400 dollar gun that sits in a safe.

I have sent an email to sig asking for a price quote, I'm curious to see what they say it will cost.

Has anyone ever sent their gun back to Sig for similar service? What did they charge you and was it worth it?

I have a P230 that has some wear (bought it that way). I've often thought about sending it back to Sig, or at least giving them a call, but never got around to it.

Please post what Sig says for re-bluing a slide.

I'm also going to call CCR. They seem to have a great product/service.

Big +1 for CCR. I sent my P229 to them for the Cera-Hide finish and was happy with the results, On the other hand, I sent a pistol back to SigArms to be refinished and waited nearly 4 months to get it back, and their customer service sucks as well.

Just my opinion![wink]

I have had two pitols redone by SIG. The full cleaning, lube and spring replacement with new night sites is worth the $129. I also had both slides refinished. They look as good as new and I was quite happy. I dropped them off and had them back in a little under a month.

Actually, I was on the phone with their CS today and he was great. Shipped me out what I needed poste haste. Does the CCR finish match Sig's original or is it a different finish?

for 129 dollars they will go through the gun, replace the springs, clean it, lube it, and install new night sights.

Another 99.95 to refinish the slide

so ~230.00 plus shipping both ways , roughly 300 bucks to buff up a 300 dollar gun

The "house black" is very close to Sig's factory finish but it looks and holds up a lot better to holster wear.....in my opinion. You can always email Brad for some sample pics...[wink]

IMO you're better off getting a 3rd party to refinish it, if you're going to do
the whole gun. The factory ends up jobbing it out anyways, so why pay for a middleman?

As far as the springs go... you may be fixing something that isn't broken. The reccomended interval is 5000 rounds, IIRC, and that interval is what I would call -extremely- conservative.

At that cost I wouldn't do it unless the gun has sentimental value or something similar. The only Sig I owned was brand new, no finish issues, and I didn't own it for very long, so I can't contribute much as far as that goes.
