Remington 597 Bolt has unusual Hole

Hi guys - Was shooting at the range yesterday with my "new to me" Remington 597 Tech Target. Then every round started jamming. When I went home to disassemble and clean, I noticed this hole at the bottom of the Bolt. I double checked the diagram and I'm missing the Extractor and Extractor Spring. The Extractor Plug fell out easily.

Then I did a quick search but nothing told me if this hole is really supposed to be there or not.
Any suggestions? Call Remington?

Going to answer this myself, just in case anyone else finds the same hole and has the same question. I got a reply from Remington and they said the hole IS supposed to be there. I also went to a local Dicks Sporting Goods store, turned a new one over and saw the same hole.

So it appears that I just need a new extractor. I wonder how the old one fell out considering I was only shooting regular 22lr bullets from the store.
