Passed by the RI House last night 6/5/25. Rhode Island providing a "Hold My Beer" moment for Mass Legislature. If you already own any of these by July 1, 2026 you can keep them but are encouraged to voluntarily register them. Revolvers and bolt action rifles for everyone. Under this description the 10/22 is an assault weapon.

"Combination of parts that may be readily assembled to create a firearm defined in this section."

Wow, that's a good one.
Such language is nothing new really. CT's had that language (constructive possession of parts) in it's AWB since it was first enacted way back in 1993/1994.
"A part or combination of parts designed or intended to convert a firearm into an assault weapon, as defined in any provision of subparagraphs (B) to (E), inclusive, of this subdivision, or any combination of parts from which an assault weapon, as defined in any provision of subparagraphs (B) to (E), inclusive, of this subdivision, may be assembled if those parts are in the possession or under the control of the same person;"

It was actually the House that approved this. It goes to the Senate next. Here's an article about it:

Well, it looks like I'll need to buy one of these assault weapons, that I've had my eye on, while I still can!

They copied the MA copy/paste error of rifles not allowing anything around the barrel to hold with a second hand?! Wow

Like any of us are surprised. Not only are tehse people not gun experts, they are terrible writers as well.

The skills necessary to become an elected official <> skills necessary to be a GOOD elected official.

Maybe I have reading comprehension fail, but how is a 1911 now an assault weapon.

What additional feature beyond the detachable mag does it have?
I was wondering the same thing. I thing the thread title is perhaps a bit hyperbolic.

However, a Ruger Mk.IV 22/45 Lite is clearly an assault weapon under this definition due to the threaded barrel.

If it's got a threaded barrel (like the tiny Beretta Bobcat and Tomcat shown above), then it's an assault weapon:

I lived in Kingston, MA. Never had to go into RI.

I lived in the North Shore and Boston, never had to go into RI.

Now I am 30min from RI and never have to go into that State. (Except today, getting Global Entry, lol).

Only times I went to the State were either for a Rugby tournament (2 times) or driving through it on my way to NY and today.

The point is, f*ck that backyard sh*thole, there is no need to go there.

It's very embarrassing to be an RI'er. This is just another reason. The Mag bans law was so egregiously written it should've never survived legal scrutiny but it did and then the puss*es on SCOTUS refused to correct it so of course the retards at the RI Statehouse are now doubling down. We all saw this coming a mile away

All Blue States have been given the green light to ban all semi-autos.

It can accept a 40 round Promag 45acp drum mag. It extends beyond the grip. BOOM ! The assault weapons fairy has struck again.
