Rhode Island decides your 1911 is now an Assault Weapon 6/5/25

I was wondering the same thing. I thing the thread title is perhaps a bit hyperbolic.

However, a Ruger Mk.IV 22/45 Lite is clearly an assault weapon under this definition due to the threaded barrel.

If it's got a threaded barrel (like the tiny Beretta Bobcat and Tomcat shown above), then it's an assault weapon:

I agree with these... "if" it has a threaded barrel, then it would be an banned by the new law, but I think threaded barrel was a problem before too, right? But most don't have a threaded barrel

It can accept a 40 round Promag 45acp drum mag. It extends beyond the grip. BOOM ! The assault weapons fairy has struck again.

I agree, it can accept a bigger mag, but that would still be in the location of the grip.

Anyway... no need to argue this. It's still a terrible law, and dumb all the way around.

Most of the 22/44 Lites do have a threaded barrel. But, yes, it's a stupid law regardless.

Wow. Proactive thinking on the fixed mag pistol with more than 10 rounds. That kills the KelTec 5.7 that loads it’s 20 rd mag from clips.
KT plans to release a 10 rd model, which will be so easy to mod into a 20 rd I'm surprised they didn't just make it a "10 rd" anyway.

So long as SCOTUS continues to be kunts and states keep pushing bans on more and more on detachable mags, we're probably going to be seeing more fixed mag stripper clip fed pistols in the future, which, given what Kel Tec did with the PR57 and how much slimmer and lighter it is than all other current 5.7 pistols on the market might not be a bad thing for innovations sake.

I mean, if I could get an LCP Max that held 10 rds, but was as slim as the original LCP, I'd be all over that even if the mag was fixed and had to be reloaded with clips.

Passed by the RI House last night 6/5/25. Rhode Island providing a "Hold My Beer" moment for Mass Legislature. If you already own any of these by July 1, 2026 you can keep them but are encouraged to voluntarily register them. Revolvers and bolt action rifles for everyone. Under this description the 10/22 is an assault weapon.

They won’t stop ever

Very proud of the RI legislature working diligently to keep evil and murderous assault weapons like the P322 off the streets.

Like the courts, give a shit
They’re all on the same team.
My great uncle put it this way in 1934. They passed the NFA only after the government damn near getting his ass kicked over prohibition. He was shocked. It took another 35 years before they passed another big nasty gun bill in 1968 and just been picking out it ever since.

Our government will not stop until the free people are on no longer armed

I have not bothered to read the bill, but I bet Lauren enforcement is exempt, correct

I lived in Kingston, MA. Never had to go into RI.

I lived in the North Shore and Boston, never had to go into RI.

Now I am 30min from RI and never have to go into that State. (Except today, getting Global Entry, lol).

Only times I went to the State were either for a Rugby tournament (2 times) or driving through it on my way to NY and today.

The point is, f*ck that backyard sh*thole, there is no need to go there.
Incest level state corruption, Afghanistan level roads, pizza with no cheese, Pawtucket and Woonsocket- to needs a full douche

Some of the people that spoke out against this garbage hit the nail right on the head that basically all the sponsors of this bill and most of the scumbags that voted for it are attorneys. They will gladly represent you after you get tripped up by the bills that they wrote and then codified into law. Lowlife's, every single one of them

It's fine for about 3 months of the year as the rest it's either too cold or swamped by competion shooters every weekend for some event and all the ranges get closed.

May thru July it may as well be taped off to members because of all the events.

Huh....just look at all the street thugs standing in line waiting to (voluntarily) turn in their illegal weapons...oh wait...never mind. I mistook them for law abiding citizens. [hmmm]
