rock island 1911 sight help

i bought a used RA 1911 and its missing the front sight. Seems to be different then most dove tales this is just a drop in style. ( not to sure of the proper terms) can anyone direct me on where i can order the correct one for this gun. Aftermerket or original? what are some options. I honestly dont shoot much so i dont need anything crazy. Also are these hard to install? thanks for the help!!

If you have the GI model it's a staked front sight. The sight drops in the hole and the bottom from inside the slide gets staked. You an but a tool to do it or have a smith do it. I did mine myself and it came out good. You could ways have a smith cut a dovetail in so you have more options.

Brownells may have RI parts, or try Numrich - or call Rock Island and see what they can do. If its a standard GI, just stake it like Cluster said.

Best move is to cut a dovetail and be done with it. Then you can pick and choose the front sight you want and change someday too.
