I was offered a Rock Island Armory Mil Spec .45 for $250 from a guy in work needing cash quick. They sell new some places for under 400 bucks, about $389 I saw. For the money I'm thinking grab it but on the other hand...piece of crap. Have Colt, S&W, and Sig 45's. Even a Norinco thrown into the mix so don't really need it. Any comments on this deal? Take it or walk away? I see fairly good reviews but some had issues. Just throwing it out there is all.

250? Take it. RIA does not make pretty 1911s but when they are broken in they are just as reliable as any other 1911.

Buy it, thats a steal at that price.

If you don't want it. please give me the info and I'll buy it.

Take it. It won't be pretty but really for that price, you could turn it into a project gun. I have a colt, Ed brown, kimber to name a few, but for 250, I would make room for it.

love LOVE mine.
use it as a build platform, i did. you will never regret it.

If I lived in MA,I would've given $300 for it just to move to the top of the line.

You can't beat rocks for the price.
Befor I got banned from a 1911 site for a funny pic , they where nuts about them. I've been eyeing a double stack rock :)

The only other way I know to get a 1911 that cheap is a sarco kit.

I owned one years ago. Most reliable off the shelf, unmodified 1911 I ever shot in terms of never FTFing or FTEing. I think it's because the RIA tolerances are a little loose compared to most modern manufacturing standards. The 1911 was designed in a time of hand craftsmanship, and the platform doesn't lend itself well to tight tolerances.

Nope, this deal ain't gonna happen. Went waving cash yesterday and he's changed his mind. Another one slips through. Thanks for the info though, will know better next time.

I don't know where you're getting your info from.

This is my RIA that has run perfectly with all types of ammo right out of the box brand new. You're going to tell me this bitch isn't "pretty"? [wink]

I have a name for those kinds of grips but it is unsuitable for posting on NES and I'd have to ban myself. That's how bad it is. Otherwise, yes, pretty gun. [laugh]
