Picked up a couple of N9TAX slim jims ($28 each) and decided to mount them on pvc (mainly to keep them straighter) to hang in the attic. One antenna is tuned for 2 Meter / 70 cm and the other is tuned for MURS and GMRS. I got them primarily for SHTF simplex communication with a couple of family members that live within a couple of miles of my place. I only have Baofeng HT's at the moment, but for my limited use they have worked great. Plus the low cost of the Baofengs and the antennas has made it much easier to outfit the family as well.
