Hi Guys,

This is my first post here, but have been into guns for the better part of 50 years and just thought I'd show off a couple projects of mine.

The first is a complete makeover of a Ruger 10/22 from the early 70's. After stripping her down to bare bones, I proceeded to strip the stock, remove the dings and dents, soak out all the oil from years past and refinish the stock with TruOil®. Next I took all the steel parts and stripped them with Muriatic acid, Polish them up to 400 grit, then give them a rust blue job (used Pilkington's Rust Blue solution). The bluing took about 3 weeks to get to the desired color, but was well worth it. The last thing was to blast all the aluminum and have it anodized. Since the Rugers are cast aluminum, the black anodize comes out a medium tone grey, which is a very nice contrast to the rich dark blue of the steel. You can see the finished rifle on my Picasa web album.

My second is a complete build of an AR10 from a raw forging. Many of you might be aware of Ray-Vin's tutorial on the AR15, well I went a step further and wrote a tutorial on Machining a raw forging of an AR10 into a complete rifle. The entire project consumed about 4 months of my time, but again, like the rust bluing, it was worth the wait. The pictures of the process can be seen on my Picasa web album. Here is the finished rifle. The tutorial I wrote can be viewed on my Google Drive.

Let me know what you think.....

Hope OP don't mind. It's easier to see the picture within the thread.
