Ruger 1022

I have a fairly new 10/22T and love it.

Ruger claims the polymer trigger guard is less susceptible to damage than the old guard, and has a video to demonstrate both in an impact test.

Polymer is used throughout the industry for parts that get a lot more stress than a trigger guard, without difficulty.

Ruger 10/22 USST

I have this 10/22 it is VERY ACCURATE. This is a heavy bull barrel and nice smooth trigger. I liked the stock and that it supports the US Shooting Team. The only thing I did to it was changed the mag release. The stock one is tough to use and didn't drop the mag for me without a struggle.

Here is my Target. I bought it in early December and put 1,500 rounds through it in the 1st 2 weeks.

Here is a thumb tack I was aiming at from 50 yards. Notice the 5 o'clock shot hit the rim. You cant see the other 2 thumb tacks I was aiming at....because I hit them!

I got my 1022 about 2 years ago, when they started using the polymer. I eventually ditched the barrel band and replaced the trigger pack, but it's been a tack driver since day 1.

There's a bunch of 10/22 here, 16 or so, but only a couple remain stock. For most, stock ones will suffice with maybe a bit of trigger improvement. The polymer parts...the barrel band is useless anyways so that's spare parts drawer piece. The trigger housing...all I hear is people whining and crying about the new material but no actual negative aspects otherwise. Everyone will whine and cry about the polymer trigger housing but then rave about polymer pistols and AR parts. Buy one with confidence.

Blkhawk73 you are right about polymer parts. They do It to cut cost and keep price down. They do it in alot of stuff. I will more than likey get a new one. I think if you cut man hours in anything you make you will be around in the long run.

i have a plain 10/22 carbine model. does anybody know what the point of the barrel band is? Will removing it affect accuracy at all?

On the 10/22, it doesn't really have a point. Personally, I took mine off, and hacked off the front little tidbit of the stock. If anything, removing it will increase accuracy, as the barrel will be a little bit closer to free floating.

I'm very proficient at burning money. I will look into the TG2000. Thanks

My first 10/22 is a VG build. I have TG2000 on it. It's an awesome upgrade for my 10/22. Lovin it. [grin]

I will try a Kidd build on my next 10/22. I love to try out the Kidd 2 stage Trigger kit. [smile][smile]

"Due to the oversized safety used, it may be necessary for some stocks to be modified slightly to accommodate this part"

Has anyone had to modify the stock and a Ruger 10/22 Target?

I had no problem with it on either my ruger carbine stock, or bell and carlson target stock. of course, i also havent taken my 1022 apart but twice since getting the tg2000.
