I'm sorry for the newb question but I've never owned a pistol or rifle... only an over and under shotgun.
Anyhoo, I got myself a 5.5" Ruger 22/45 last week - it's a hell of a lot of fun. But after a few hundred rounds I noticed some scratches on the side of the bolt (the exposed part - by the ejector).
Is this harmful to the gun in more ways than cosmetics? If I keep it reasonably oiled should I be concerned about rust? Has anyone heard of this happening with Ruger Mk III's?
