I really like the the 22 Charger and the price is not bad either, but of course in this great state it is not compliant. I was wondering is there a way to request this become compliant or is there any word or way to find out if it is going to become compliant in the future? I know it is fairly new so I'm guessing that has something to do with it not being compliant yet but does anyone have any answers to those questions.

Yep, Once again the Massachusetts gun control laws to "reduce crime" manage to find multiple ways to ban what is essentially a target pistol. No criminal would ever carry anything that large in a .22.

Impact is ONLY on lawful shooters.

Write your legislators and let them know that once again the laws are ONLY impacting YOU.

Well you could build one, buy a 10/22 strip all the internals out of it , throw out the receiver , Buy a new reiceiver thats never been built into a firearm. reassemble and buy barrel and stock . File FA 10 you now have a Ruger Charger

Make sure it's under 50oz, or you've made yourself a felon.

I was not aware wieght was a factor in this , do you have a link to this in Federal Laws?

It ceased to be a federal law in 2004. The federal AWB was copied in to MGL Ch140 Sec 121.
“Assault weapon”, shall have the same meaning as a semiautomatic assault weapon as defined in the federal Public Safety and Recreational Firearms Use Protection Act, 18 U.S.C. section 921(a)(30) as appearing in such section on September 13, 1994,...

The section referenced contained:
(C) a semiautomatic pistol that has an ability to accept a
detachable magazine and has at least 2 of -

(i) an ammunition magazine that attaches to the pistol

outside of the pistol grip;

(ii) a threaded barrel capable of accepting a barrel

extender, flash suppressor, forward handgrip, or silencer;

(iii) a shroud that is attached to, or partially or

completely encircles, the barrel and that permits the shooter

to hold the firearm with the nontrigger hand without being

burned;

(iv) a manufactured weight of 50 ounces or more when the

pistol is unloaded; and

(v) a semiautomatic version of an automatic firearm;

The weight limit can be used to make it compliant in CT. Hoffmans had one for sale for quite some time - my guess is that they put a lightweight barrel on it, probably got reclassified as a handgun.

Thanks for the Link, looks like you will never get one approved in Mass as from the factory the wiegh 56.oz that makes you a Felon in Mass . I forgot those a**h***s continued the Federal AWB in this communist state .

I am not 100% sure, but I asked one of the salemen and he said the lighter aftermarket barrel made it legal. Said it had to do with the weight, than if the weight was greater than X (I don't recall the exact figure) that it would be a short barreled rifle.

The closest I've seen to these that would be MA legal is a cut-down pistol-grip target stock, to bring it right to 26" OAL with a 16" lightweight barrel. Basically, it's technically still a rifle (enough buttstock left to still be shoulder fired, >26/16, etc), which can be fired like a handgun.
