I'm wondering if anyone has experience shooting the Ruger LCR; I've read good things about it, but never met anyone who has actually fired one. It seems like it would be a good gun for my wife (she has small hands); would be a good carry gun; is durable; reasonably accurate at 25 feet. Does anyone have direct experience of this gun? I'd appreciate some advice.

How much experience does your wife have with firearms? If she doesn't have a lot of experience, she should stay away from a snubnose revolver, especially a lightweight one like an LCR. It is a good gun, but like every other snub out there, has a steep learning curve to it.

My girlfriend shoots a snub nose SW317 airlite. Granted it is only a .22 but she's been shooting it for a while and probably will move up to a 38spl soon. Its a fun gun to shoot as well....

I shot the LCR with 38 special+p rounds. Quite a handful.
I've been in construction for 40+ years, and have tough hands, and it was not a fun gun to shoot. My wife shot it also, she said she will never shoot it again. My personal search for a carry gun continues.

Just got an e-mail from Ruger that a 357 magnum version is coming out soon; it will have a metal frame though...so I'm guessing the recoil will be a little less tough when shooting .38 +p then the regular LCR.
