I took down my ruger mark 3 target and cleaned it. Put it all back together, though with it only being my second time taking it down, it was a " challenge" getting everything aligned. All appeared fine. Racked slide with empty magazine, slide lock engaged. Tried to sling shot the slide and the slide lock would not release. Pressed down on the slide lock and slide releases. Pull trigger and all is fine. Pull slide back and feel far too much resistance. Not sure if this enough information to diagnosis the problem but any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

That all sounds about right. If the trigger dry fires (clicks) you should be good. You should feel heavier resistance when pulling the slide back after reassembly or after a dry fire. If you then release the slide back to the ready position, and pull it back again, there will be much less resistance because the hammer is already "cocked" internally.

Duh! I didn't think about it cocking the hammer. Thanks.
