How good are the Ruger M77 Mark II rifles in .308. I just picked one up at a gun show the other weekend with a 3.5-10-42 Swift scope for $430 and I was wondering how good they are. Don't worry about it - one of the moderators moved this one into the correct forum.
I did own a M77 MkII in 270 for a while. Nice looking rifle, mine shot okay. I never could get the accuracy I was looking for, so I traded it in on the first of several Savages. It was a nice hunting rifle, though.
I've heard/read that Swift makes a decent lower priced scope, but have no first hand knowledge (yet). I just picked up an older used Swift that's headed for a 10/22, so I suppose we'll see how they work!

My dad just picked up a savage with the accu-trigger,bull berrel,hs pression stock and put a burris fullfield II 6-20-50.but he spent $1500 almost. My last fifle befor this one was a .270 s&w, didnt get good groups so i sold it at the gun show with a simmons scope for $300, than baught my ruger .308 the same day for $430.I will tell you how it turns out once i upgrade scopes.thanks.
