I found a competition with a red dot for $429. Is this a good price? There should be a blue book for these things.

that very much depends on the type of red dot and maybe if it has custom target grips. I paid $225 used about 2 years ago for my MkII and about the same for my optic as I recall.

~$200-250 seems right for the MkII alone unless it's been seriously worked over by a reputable gun smith with papers to prove it.
