I am in the market for a .22 so I can go shooting alot with spending a fortune on rounds. I've seen a new one for under $400. Wondering what others here think about it. Thanks

My dad and I share a MkIII competetion model. We have fun with it and the contoured grip on the competition model is really nice while shooting.

I do think I'm going to get one within the next week. I'll start calling around tomorrow for prices and availability.

It is a very fun inexpensive gun to shoot. They are very good shooters. You wont be sorry. Here is a video showing dis-assembly/assembly. Many people talk about the horrors of cleaing the MKIII. Follow this vid and you will be fine it is not that big a deal. And honestly these guns can go a long time between cleaning if you are using it as a target/plinker.

The Mark III has a magazine disconnect "safety" feature that some people find annoying and unnecessary. I have a 1978 Mark I target model (just got it last weekend) and while I like it a lot, I do wish the mag release was in a more normal spot instead of on the bottom of the mag well. But - any version is a lot of fun. You really can't go wrong.

I got my Mark I for about $200, not sure if that's considered a good price but I thought it was worth it. I already have a competition trigger and sear on order - the bug has bitten. :)
