Ruger Mark III's

squished summed it up. If memory servse me right from when I looked into these. Then went with the hunter model on looks alone.

Sights: hunter and target have the same sights, comp model had finer adjustments?
Grips, target plastic, hunter wood , comp wood with thumb rest.
To the best of my knowing, barrels are the same on hunter and comp fluted vs slab side.
Target is blue bull barrel.

I think the hunter is the better looking of them. All have endless aftermarket goodies.

If you want to get an idea of what the different models are going for check out AG Guns in Lowell. Their website lists the cash/credit prices for all the Ruger MkIII models. They likely won't have what you want in stock but can order it and usually get it in less than a week.

Thanks for the info everyone. Very big help.

Now I'm just waiting for the gun show Saturday. I asked my girlfriend if she wanted to go, to my surprise she said sure. She's not a gun person yet. Hopefully, when she goes shooting with me she'll realize how much fun it is.

My wife shoots the MKIII better than me. Although punching paper is of no fun for here.
The steel spinners and such targets keep her more into it. Also at times we try to bust clay targets at the 100y berm

Not sure what gun show you are going to, but I have yet to buy anything at the marlboro gun show. I find myself over at Fourseasons or collectors after

FS has the comp advertised @ 479 cash new

Four Seasons

Just out of curiosity will Four Seasons be at the Fitchburg gun show?

Maybe id be better off just buying a new one.

Doubt it.

There is nothing wrong with buying a used gun, especially a Mark III. They are extremely durable and since they are so popular you'd probably find a used one at a good price.

Just an FYI, I think brownells sells the hi-viz sights for the Mark III for like $20, the ones you can only get on the expensive hunter model. So if you are looking for a hunter model for the sights, don't bother, just get them from brownells.

As far as I know FourSeasons does not do gun shows. No need long before the bama rush the store is always packed. Even more so at gun show weekends.

The sights on the hunter are no big deal. I cant see paying extra for them. TONS of aftermarket sights for MKIIIs.....tons and tons of extra goodies.

From what I see new and old alike 300-350 with a few mags is the range. I shoot lefty so the thumbrest grips are not a plus. Good luck

No. Almost none of the larger stores in MA show up at the shows.

I think I know why, too. What happens is people go to the gun show, get pissed off, and then go to their stores. So they're probably thinking, why should they bother setting up at the show when people are going to come to them, anyways? [laugh]
