I found this on gunbroker, and the rifle is located in MA. The seller states that the rifle shoots one round on pulling the trigger, and another round on releasing the trigger. He states that the trigger modification is OK per a letter from the BATFE.

Does this pass the sniff test of MA firearms law?

Thanks,

Rich

"For your consideration is a Ruger Mini 30 in the low recoil and cheap 7.62x39 AK round. This rifle is in exceptional condition. The stock is perfect without any marks or dents. The action is smooth and quick. This rifle has a trigger modification (speed trigger) that allows the shooter to shoot at a rate of 450 RPM should they so choose. Translated that means you can empty a 30 round clip in <3 secs. This rifle will shoot on the PULL of the trigger AND ON THE RELEASE. For every cycle of the trigger TWO rounds will fire. This is a semi-auto rifle per the BATFE letter I have and can be owned by anyone who can legally own a semi-auto rifle. For target shooters who shoot double taps this is just the ticket. A low recoiling rifle that is easy to keep on target and ammo costs will not send you to the poor house like the 5.56 or 6.8 SPC will. If you would like to see a demo of a rifle send an email to netdy7@yahoo.com and I will send you a video clip. Put "show me the video in the subject line". To see the BATFE letter do likewise and put "show me the letter" in the subject line. This rifle will ship with one 10 round and one 20 round magazine. This ships only to FFL dealers. If your dealer will not accept shipment directly from me please do not bid. Payment is USPS money order only and shipping is $40 Fed Ex and insured to the lower 48. You will also need to sign a disclaimer that you understand that this rifle fires on the PULL AND RELEASE of the trigger and you are solely responsible for the safe handling of this rifle. This will be sent after you win the auction and will be necessary for me to ship the firearm. Thank You"

I've heard of release triggers but I've never heard of one that does both. That sounds like 2 shots with 1 pull of the trigger. Be careful.

I seriously doubt the BATFE is doing their job correctly here. You may as well get a green card and do this the right way. You can pick up a Mac 10 or similar sub gun for $3K. It would be a lot cheaper than a lawyer.

Just to be clear... I'm not interested in buying this thing. There are too many questions and potential legal entanglements. A life behind bars simply would not suit my lifestyle! [grin]

But I'm curious is the description on gunbroker passes the sniff test, or if it clearly cannot be legal.

thx

Rich

BATFE has done far dumber things. They have authorized modifications as kosher then went back on their analysis claiming illegal MG when someone with half a brain looks at it. They have also made some really stupid reaches when trying to claim something can be modified "easily" to be full auto. One example of that stupidity which comes to mind involves an MG34 with some weird contraption of pulleys and chains.
