OK, I did the LTR tuneup myself. Though untested in the field due to the weather, it at least dry fired a little nicer.

Now, I am just wondering if there are similar improvements to make on the Ruger Mark II pistol.

I did a quick look on here and on rimfirecentral.com, but came up empty.

I'm not looking to compete with this thing, but a little more crispness would be just ducky.

Anyone?

You might consider replacing the sear with the volquartsen... My experience is that this one change will make the biggest improvement in the way your pistol shoots...[wink]

A good reference for installation is here:

One cannot stone the sear oneself as with the 10/22?

I'd rather just make a small adjustment myself, if possible. Like I said, I'm not looking for crazy change, just a minor improvement would be fine. I've lived with it this long, but figured I'd ask since the 10/22 was fairly easy.

Thanks.

Edit to add:
In my searching, I found this nice site:

Ruger MkII "Ultimate Cliploader"?

No problem....[wink]

I highly recommend the ultimate cliploader.... I've had one for a number of years and have found make mag loading for my MkIII very quick and easy....[smile]

I agree with Bob J
The Volquartsen sear is the way to go. It is the single best thing you can do to improve the trigger pull.
I have one installed in one of my Mk II's and am very happy. I also set my overtravel screw and drilled and tapped a pretravel set screw in the trigger. It has a great trigger now, and very close to my S&W M41's.
Rimfire Sports has them with free shipping:

Gregg Derr tuned the sear and added a trigger overstop on mine for $60-$70 bucks. It dropped the pull from 5-6 to 2.5 and made a big difference.

+1 on the Volquartsen sear. Not sure if anything else has ever been changed on mine (bought it used years ago) but when I put in the new sear the pull dropped incredibly. Crisp as all get out but "almost" scary light on the pull. Love it for bullseye shooting but wouldn't dare take it outside. Would still do it again if I had to do it over, great for bullseye.

Having recently improved my 10-22 a bit more, I am again curious about this for the MkII.

I don't want "scary light" trigger pull, but improved would be great. Anything one can do at home with these like on a 10-22?

Thanks.
