So the regular MKlll has the angled grip and is metal framed correct? The ruger 22/45 has a grip to match a .45 1911 pistol and is made of polimer instead of metal. Are there any other major differences because the MKlll's are going for $300+ dollars and I can pick up a 22/45 with the longer barrel for $265 brand new.

thoughts please.... always looking for any opinions possible

That's basically it. The 22/45 has integral NON replaceable grips (at least without a LOT of work), the regular one has a large assortment of aftermarket grips available. They also take different magazines (at least the floor plates are different). Try them both first.

ETA: Compare the prices to http://www.agguns.com first, they seem to have the best prices. Four Seasons seemed to be charging a lot more for the 22/45 based on a recent thread.

That was my thread regarding 22/45 from FS. The price that I paid was wrongly marked. I received a refund of the difference. I think the 22/45 was roughly $240. FS sent me a check right away after the price error was confirmed.

At first I hated the plastic grips on the gun. Then I liked them. Then I got some "handall" hogue grips from midway for like 6 bucks. I had to cut them down a little. Now, I like the gun a lot. Even so, the trigger is tough to break causing me to pull shots. It is very noticeable with the red dot sight. I haven't had mine long but have at least 1000 - 1500 rounds through it. I hope more shooting will break it in. If not, I will get a new trigger or have work done on it.

It is a-lot of fun for the money.

+1 on a lot of fun for the money.....[smile]

An aftermarket sear made a big improvement in my trigger pull....

I recently picked up a 22/45. Stainless 5.5 Bull barrel. It is very accurate and eats anything you feed it. The trigger is nice out of the box and has a nice feel in your hands. I just ordered the parts to do the grip mod and VQ Extractor upgrade.

What I am enjoying the most is the inexpensive ammo!
