Ruger SR 1911 in 9mm

I just noticed that Ruger now produces an SR 1911 chambered in 9mm. As a plus, it is on the latest Mass approved list. Does anybody have any experience with this gun? I've been thinking of a 9mm, 1911 for a while. What do you think about the Ruger?

i like my SR1911 and was hoping the 9mm version would get approved. Has anyone seen one in Mass.

I love my SR1911 Watchman. I have not seen it in Mass but I did see it last weekend at Gunrunners-I think thats the name....in Amherst NH on 101a.

No. You'd think they would make the 9mm version a full size like the 45. Also I hate the two tone, should be all stainless like the 45. Just my $0.02.

I love my SR1911 Commander in 45 ACP. I would like the 9mm. Holiday season is upon us.....Glad it made on the approved list. Although it seems kinda lame that there is even an "approved" list at all, but that is another thread.

Not yet, I held the commander and it seemed ok but I likey 5 inch 1911's

The Ruger website also states this is not MA approved and certified.

I took your advice and called. They had 4. I went down there on Saturday and got one. The next person in the store took the last one. Put about 150 rounds down range Sunday night and it worked great. Shot both factory ammo and reloads. No failures of any kind with either ammo.

Don't necessarily believe what a gun shop clerk tells you.

Bought one yesterday, took it out today. Very impressed with this gun, only put 200 rounds thru it but no problems with a mix of FMJ and JHP ammo.

Yes. They're Novak sights/dovetail so you should have plenty of options.

I get that Dillon Precision magazine, in the latest issue there is an article on Iver Johnson who apparently make a 10mm longslide 1911 now.
