I purchased a new Ruger SR22 pistol a few weeks ago for a range plinker, and really wanted to put a Burris Fastfire style sight on it. After researching, there are no bolt on options to attach a sight to the slide.
The only next option was to get creative.
I never like taking a hammer & punch to a firearm. Nevermind a new one with zero rounds down the pipe. Oh well. At least I had someone to watch.
Without too much fuss:
A few quick measurements from the dovetail & a Weaver rail I had laying around and I came up with this:
This should work with any of the cheaper red dot sights. If I do want a Fastfire, I can just make the dovetail adapter a flat plate, so the fastfire sits lower.
The next step is seeing when I can get some machine time in at work.
