Ruger SR556 buying options and prices dilemma.

So after doing some HW, I think I am leaning towards Ruger SR556 MA compliant vs. Stag 8. Next thing I have hit the fence on is, "Price". So for a brand new Ruger 556, there is a couple of online places that can ship it to mass and after FFL fees it would be a tad less than $1450.

Second option is to go through Davidsons Inc. and have them ship to local dealer and pick it up. For some reason, this route, I have to pay Tax on top of gun price and a nominal $16 fee. BUT I get lifetime warranty on this option. But the price this route is a hair less than $1600

Dilemma:: I cant seem to find Ruger warranty - except the fact that they have very good customer service which takes care of warranty part. However, nothing set and stone written. I have read that if ANYTHING breaks on the any firearm from Davidsons, they **REPLACE** it with a brand new one for lifetime. That in itself sounds like a big plus.

Now is $150 for lifetime warranty from Davidsons worth than buying a Ruger and trusting their customer service to own up to it, years (5 yrs longer or even 10+) down the road ? What would you experienced souls do ?

Thanks

Ruger has excellent CS so a lifetime warrantee may be pointless. I've had several Ruger firearms and have had parts break on them,Ruger either sent me the parts for the repair or had me return the gun for service and fixxed the problem at no charge. As far as the AR platform a model with direct impingemnet might be a better choice. If a part breaks on a DI rifle everybody and his brotheer makes parts for them. With the Ruger, the gas op system is proprietary and if it breaks Ruger is the only source for parts and if they happen to be out of that part you're SOL till the new ones are made or come in from the vendor. I've thought about buying the SR556 myself but the parts availability has slowed me from getting one. I've 4 AR in centerfire calibers and if they braek I can do most of the repairs myself once I have the need replaacment part.

Doesn't that gun have a 1/9 barrel twist? I can't fathom dumping that much cake into a new gun with the fudd twist.

Unless he's shooting 80 grain SMKs it doesn't really matter. I just can't get over the pricing. For a Ruger!?! Must have solid gold magazines.

I have one and i love it. Extremely picky with ammo though. I bought it because it came with everything i wanted in an ar out of the box, but there are cheaper and possibly better options out there.

edit:
Also a lot of those things are not ma compliant, so unless the compliant version is much cheaper than the original i wouldn't spend the money
