The Smith & Wesson third generation guns generally have a pretty good reputation for accuracy and reliability. One big disadvantage is the slide-mounted safety/decocker. It is easy to accidentally put the gun on safe while cycling the slide during an emergency reload. Also, the safety is difficult to reach with your strong hand thumb while maintaining a good grip, so many who carry a third gen carry it decocked, safety off.
Like all DA/SA guns, it has a long, hard double action trigger for the first shot, but follow up shots are a short, light single action trigger. It takes a fair bit of practice to manage that transition.
Personally, I'd rather have a striker-fired gun like a Glock or M&P. But I'm guessing a 908 is cheaper.
