I am not in the position to buy a new firearm right now but for my next purchase I am thinking about a revolver. Are these Governors as awesome as I would imagine they should be? Being able to take .45ACP, .45LC and .410 shot shells. Anybody have any hands-on experience with one of these ridiculous creatures?

I cant think of a single reason why I would own one. very much seems like a gimick to me. I cant imagine it being all that accurate with .45acp, I dont think .410 is the best bet for a defensive round, and .45lc out of a 2.25 barrel???

Not at all trying to bash a gun you like, but I was very much disapointed with both the GOV and the Judge after shooting both

I have no allegiance to it other than the fact that I think it's pretty awesome that it shoots .410 shot shells from a revolver pretty much. I think of it as the "Mossberg Chainsaw" of revolvers. More than likely I would probably go with a more 'traditional' type revolver like a 686 / 627 / 629... something in a larger caliber most likely (any opinions?) but just wanted to hear peoples' opinions of the .GOV

I can honestly say Ive said those exact same words.... When I looked into what .410 can do I looked elsewhere. As others have said it might make a cool range toy and impress other guys at the range but thats about it.

I want one, they had 7 of them at S&W retail store last week. I went up tonight to shoot and in the back of my head, I was gonna put one on layaway.... the showcase was empty.. I've read many many reviews, guys that have really gone out and shot em, seem to love them and feel they have lots of potential and uses. They seem to be very accurate, as good as any house gun on the market, good woods gun and .... yep, blastphemy.... it's fun to play at the range with it... that doesn't make it a bad gun. It's a whole lot more than a range toy!! I'm getting one... Now that doesn't mean I won't go back up there tomorrow during the day and put that 686 SSR I saw in the back of the showcase on layaway. If the salesman wasn't so busy, I would have had him pull it out and put it in my hand... knowing me, it'd be like a scene from Topgun..... That gun had me on "hello" I'll take it...

32 of the Govenators or the 686's... ?

They were all Governors. E-mail them at ajsportinggoods@bcn.net before they're all gone.

Holy moley.... that's some impressive pictures of inventory. I went to his website... nice, but no shopping cart, how does he sell, just by walkins?

Just walk-ins or transfers. Limited hours: Tuesday and Thursday 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Saturday 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM, or by appointment. Small shop, but truly a huge selection and inventory of firearms. They even have Bond Arms receivers in stock.

I held one today at Collectors. Felt very nice, and the SA trigger was crisp. The DA, not so much, but for the $550 price range, seemed very nice. Maybe a 2012 purchase! But, if I buy one, I will have to kill my .45LC Karma......
