Searched but did not find. Looking for recommendations for a 'smith that works on 3rd generation S&W semi-autos. I am looking to reduce trigger pull weight and smooth the pull. I am aware of Santurri and Lawlor (Remsport), who are 1911 smiths. Boston/Metrowest preferred. I am also aware that I could take the gun to the S&W performance center. They seem to charge about $175 for trigger work. Thanks for any leads.

Santurri is a great guy and will work on just about anything that goes bang. Give him a call, I rarely ever hear complaints about him.

Shooting or dry firing the pistol will smooth the action. A reduced power hammer spring will lighten the trigger pull and is easy to install, but should not be used in a pistol destined for personal protection as light hits could result in FTFs. Replacing the trigger return spring will further lighten the trigger pull, but requires detail disassembly of the frame which is rather complicated. I have performed all of the above on my 5906 with good results.

The performance center did a 5906 for me two years ago and the action is unbelievable on the gun compared to my others. Very smooth with a clean break and short reset you can feel. Carl Sokol is also a master on these guns. The performance center job includes more the just trigger work and every third gen gun the I have that I shoot a lot is going there eventually.

Thanks guys! I have been leaning towards just biting the bullet and sending it to the PC. Heard nothing but good things.
