Owners of M&P compacts, I'd really appreciate your feedback on some specific issues

1.) What IWB and OWB holsters are you using?

2.) In your opinion should a mass triggered new M&P be sent out to have a trigger job or would a drop-in trigger yield equal or better results?

3.) Anyone come across ammo that their M&P doesn't like?

4.) on a scale of 1 to 10 how would you rate your overall satisfaction with yours?**

Thanks in advance.

* I searched and read the M&P threads and just wanted some consolidated up-to-date feedback on these specific questions. 'Mod's if this thread should be blasted due to redundancy or just outright hatred then kill away.' No harm, no foul.

1 being unsatisfied(dumped or will be dumping it)
5 being satisified(keeping it but not enthusiastic about it)
10 being very satisfied(I'll keep it, shoot it into the ground, and buy another.)

I have a M&P 40c, I carry it in a crossbreed supertuck holster which I LOVE and will wear from the time I get dressed till I go to bed. Im planning on having my trigger done by derrpricision in the coming weeks which is probably cheaper ($65) and yields better results than any replacement parts available. It eats every ammo i have thrown at it with 0 malfunctions. I couldnt be happier with my purchase (rating=10) [grin]

I have a Blade tech IWB that I love. I also have a great OWB leather DeSantis that is great as well. I use both for CC and IDPA

1.) I have a M&P 40c and love it. I use a Comp-Tac, C-Tac IWB holster. 2.) Burwell trigger job. 3.) I personally have had no ammo issues. Heard of quite a few, feed ramp polish fix. 4.) 10

I have the same gun except I carry it in a Minotaur MTAC Holster by Comp-Tac. I have not had a trigger job, but I live in NH so it came with a free state trigger pull. I would give it a rating of 8-9. Great gun for the $$.

1.) - OWB is a Bluegrass Kit Carson, superb holster. www.bluegrassholsters.com Bought a BladeTech IWB recently, not as comfortable as I'd like, but body build has a lot to do with holster comfort. I'm contemplating Bluegrass' combo holster . . . I have The Ghost for the 45 FS, but having only worn it a few days it still feels like and entire side of beef on my side (it's BIG). It will also holster my 9 FS and can actually be worn IWB or OWB, but until it forms to my body, the jury is still out on this one.

2.) - Absolutely!! My 9c was bought from another NES'r. He had a trigger job done on it, and is a real sweet shooting gun. I don't think that the trigger/sear in a Compact is any different than the Full Size, so I'll throw this anecdotal info in. I just bought the 9 FS, trigger pull was 7#10oz out of the box (LE, so this is a Free State trigger), but felt like I was pulling thru a sandpit! I shot 150 rds and my Wife shot 50 rds thru it and I handed it off to Greg Derr for a trigger job. I couldn't see wasting 500 rds of ammo to try to smooth it out, when I could have a professional trigger job for a lot less money and subsequently enjoy shooting it! It should come back with a ~5# trigger pull and smooth take-up.

3.) - Not yet! I've fed my 9c Rem/UMC, WWB and some random JHP that I had. No problems at all

4.) - M&P 9c with trigger job = 10, those w/o trigger jobs = 7 (after they come back from Greg, I expect to rate them as 10s also).

1:
Got an M&P 40c a couple weeks ago. Still don't have a holster for it.

2:
I have the MA trigger but can't figure what the big deal is about. There is no way mine is 10lbs. It's a little heavy, but the great ergonomics keeps the gun right on target. Also I have heard of people complain that their trigger is gritty. Mine is super smooth and breaks like glass. I may not get a trigger job on mine for fear it may come out a bit lighter, but not as smooth and crisp. Figure I'll put a few hundred more rounds down range before I decide. I hear 500 rounds or so makes a big difference in the trigger.

3:
No, it eats everything. Looking down into the magwell with the slide racked and a full mag in it I can see why it is so reliable. The bullets are lined up perfectly with the barrel. I'm not so sure it even needs a feed ramp! Pretty amazing.

4:
10. It has been so accurate and reliable it almost bores me. I can't wait to get some NS for it and a holster.

i used to carry a M&P9c - it ate everything except for cheap ass "range safe" ammo. i carried it in a Don Hume IWB holster.

i have a M&P40 that has ate a 200 FMJ's and 100 JHP's w/o issues as well. i plan on shooting it through 1000 rounds before i decide on getting a trigger job on it. like Xak said, the trigger ergo makes it really comfortable to shoot.

i have a Fobus OWB holster just for giggles.... i think I've carried OWB twice in the last year.

I am acctually leaning towards a quality OWB holster. Any semi-auto I have ever carried IWB, except for my Colt Government .380 that is 3/4" thick, has been extremely uncomfortable and makes my pants fit funny. I've had some inexpensive OWB holsters that concealed very good, like the Don Hume JIT and the Galco Matrix. I like the paddle holsters better because they keep the holstered gun with your pants while they are unzipped at a urinal, not running down your leg along with your belt. They are also great at removing your gun in the holster if needed and are still sturdy even if you aren't wearing your strongest belt. I also find they keep the gun tighter against your side than the belt holster. I'm thinking of getting the High Noon Speedy Spanky.

is used to Carry a Glock 22 in a Bianchi model 82. it was OK for winter, but once the weather started to get warm, i started the search for a smaller piece to go IWB with.

i ended up buying pants +1 or +2 to accomodate full size 1911 or mid & full size M&P.... -steve and barry's or old navy always have "shit kicker" jeans for $10 bucks [laugh], combined with a decent holster, belt and you forget you have the damn thing on.

not everyone can go IWB, i know this - for me, it's just more comfortable as i don't wear jackets / coats...

i keep those paddle holsters for mall ninja issues i have [rofl] and eventually, i'd like to do IDPA... so i have the gear. plus i got them cheap.

I have a smith & wesson 40 FULL SIZE, but I will comment anyway.

1. The freekin thing will not jam. I have put cruddy recon ammo, winchester, blazer alluminum crud, magtech, etc. It has NOT jammed 1 time in 1000 rounds. 2 duds, but no misfires.

2. The trigger completely stinks out of the box, but softens after 500 rounds. Do you need a trigger job? The extremely tight pull at the beginning does loosen up quite a bit. The question you need to ask yourself is if you carry - do you really want light TP or will the factory be OK. Completely personal choice, but break it in first.

3. The gun has a serious recoil, but it IS light weight. Trade off.

4. I use a leather hip holster outside the pants that is only useful in the winter with baggy clothes.

4. For the price, performance of this gun and the fact that the freeking thing is really made extremely well. I won't sell it. However, it is not a purist wonderful marksman weapon. It is fun. It is made great and it is RELIABLE.
