I did a search on here and didnt really find much. I was looking for a new home defense firearm when I stumbled upon a M&P 45c this week and I pulled the trigger so to speak. Just wondering what anyones thoughts are that has had one. I see theyre not too common and while Ive never been big into the smiths this one grabbed my attention. I already know Ill be doing the Apex kit for it, but aside from that whats everyone elses thoughts?

Great gun, probably the best of the M&P line... easy shooting, dead accurate... plenty of lead in the magazine. Throw some light on it and you're ready to rock. Grab a couple of FS mags for it and you'll have 10rds per mag..

Agree awesome gun. Perfect size too. 4" barrel is good compromise can carry it pretty easily

This exactly! The most underrated M&P or 45 I can think of. With the 8 round mag the dimensions are practically identical to the G19, which many consider a perfect carry size, except the width is a little thicker.
And I do have several 10 round mags with the X-grip extensions for home defense or as spares when I carry.

My fullsize is one of my favorite shooters. Been wanting the compact for a while. Its one of the smaller pieces that still fit my hand decently.

I had Dave Santurri do a trigger job on mine instead of getting an APEX kit. I couldn't be happier with the trigger now. Feels much better than the apex in my shield and better than my glock IMO.
AND it was actually cheaper than an APEX.

Good to hear people like them so much. I didnt find much on them so I figured maybe it was just a dud. Very excited to go out and shoot it now. After Jay1391 mentioned taking it to a gunsmith, I had remember Larocca does a lot of M&P work and its only 15 minutes or so from my house so I might just take it to him. Hopefully its more than just installing a Apex kit and calling it done. And now to stock up on ammo..

Personally, I prefer the APEX kits. They perform beautifully and if I ever needed to return to the original trigger assembly, to sell it, I can just replace the parts and sell the APEX kit with nearly no loss.... win, win to me.

LaRocca is a good gunsmith and Greg Derr also does wonderful M&P work if you decide not to go the Apex route.

Do yourself a favor and skip the apex. For about the same price you can get a professional trigger job from Greg Derr that will be superior to the homeowners special. Especially if you use it for any type of defense gun.

Oh and I own two M&P 45s. Full size and mid size. Two of the most accurate and reliable pistols I have.

LaRocca did a nice job on the trigger on my 45c but I would have liked to try an apex trigger first.

One advantage of going with an Apex kit is, and I'm not sure If I'll ever need to, but I like having the ability to swap all stock parts back in.

I had one with an Apex kit installed. Nicest shooting gun I have owned. Dead accurate and easy to shoot. I f'd up big by selling it.

Larocca did my trigger and it was defly better than stock. after a while I added the apex kit and I feel it is even better now. Its now one of my favorite triggers.

Surprised something so liked is so hard to find. I actually didnt even realize they made a 45c until I was at The Gun Parlor looking at a Sig. Hoping to get to the range and test it out soon. While I have shot 1911s before this will be my first owned .45.

Finally picked it up today. Cant wait to hit the range. That 8th round sucks to squeeze into the mag but its no worse than #16 in the 92FS haha

Finally had a chance to go to the range and get my take on this. Id like to say I was never a big fan of the M&P line until I laid my eyes on this one in the store. Something about it just screamed "buy me you idiot." Went to MFS last night with my buddy who has never shot before, brought out pretty much all my pistols. I had a couple boxes of Federal and a box of Geko target ammo to try out and see if the gun was picky at all. After 300 rounds I can say the damn thing ate every round and spit it out with no issues. It felt great in my hand with the medium backstrap on and the sights were dead on. I had a 3" grouping on the first magazine from it. I couldnt believe how well it was shooting, box after box of ammo and it was just begging for more. out of everything I had with me it was the most enjoyable one to shoot. The recoil wasnt bad at all considering it was my first .45ACP. Ive shot a few 1911s before but this gun just melts into my hands. I started my buddy off small with the 92FS and then the .40 and eventually the .45 and even he was putting all the rounds on the center of the target. Him being a big guy(6'3" 280lbs compared to my 5'9" 215lbs) he said it just felt really good and once he gets his license he will look into buying one for himself.

I did clean the gun when I first got it, using just a standard Hoppes cleaner on the metal parts. For the slide I used the Mpro7 grease I had for my 92FS and everything else was lubed with the Mpro7 LPX. I think I found my new favorite gun for the time being and now that Ive had a couple hundred rounds through it and its broken in a bit I'll be carrying it more often over my Walther PPS .40 Couldnt be happier with my purchase as I was expecting to have some problems out of the gate with it. Next work out will be at my bachelor party where it will see atleast 500 rounds through it, I have faith it will do well.
