S&W Springfield permanently closed

Just called smith and wesson and they said their permanently closed and don't think there reopening. (store and range). Has anyone else heard anything about this?

There have been several threads about it here. The current rumor is that the store will be closed permanently, but that the range will eventually reopen, but for members only -- it will no longer be open to the general public. No word yet on timing.
