So let me get this straight...

Thumb hole stocks are a no-go, BUT a standard pistol grip is OK. They even have pictures....

No, there's more banned than just those features. Specifically, the pistol grip is one of them, as well as the forward pistol grip.

ETA: That's interesting. You pointed to the shotgun rules, which doesn't mention the primary pistol grip. My link is to the rifle banned features, which does. That's got to be a mistake on their part for shotguns, as I can't imagine that they'd permit any pistol grip.
