I'm looking at buying a new savage arms 111fxp3 in 30-06 with a 3-9 power scope, accutrigger, and an internal magazine for about 450.00 I was just wondering if anyone has any experience with these or other savages and give me your opinions. thanks

You will not be dissapointed, I have two savages both 10FLPs one in 223 and the other in 308. They are both superbly accurate and the accutrigger is a great thing. And for me it also helps that you can get a left handed rifle from them off the shelf..

Savage Rifles are probably some of the most accurate out-of-the-box rifles for the money which you can buy. I don't think that you will be disappointed. I have a 10FLP in .223 also and it is more accurate tahn I am. I just wish I had room for one in .308.

Hey Adam,
does this mean I get to shoot it when you buy one? =)
How about you buy two and give me one!

We can shoot it Sunday morning!

savage = top quality for the half the money of a remington or winchester

a few years ago i was torn between a savage and a remington 710...i ended up with the savage 110gxp3 in 30-06 and couldnt have been happier...it probably cost about $100 more than the remington but after ive seen so many bolts break and various other problems on the remington i was happy with my decision

the savage package deals cant be beat...gun, scope, sling, accu trigger...awesome

I have one in 308. I absolutely love it, and is deadly accurate. You will learn that while the included Simmons scope is good at 50yds, it has no parallax adjustment, and looking through the scope, you can move the reticle on the target at 100 yds more than a few inches.

Yes Joe you can shoot it and i'll make you a deal i'll buy you one too if you tell the wife about it=)
thanks for all the responses i appreciate the input

Good point, swap out the scope. You don't have to spend a fortune on glass either. My 223 has a Nikkon 3-9x40 w/BDC on it and the 308 has a Pentax 3-9x56. both scopes work well out to 300yds or so and cost a couple of hundred each.

No it didn't. As a matter of fact my local K-mart got 2 of these in by accident, and they had them marked down to close-out for $80

I bought this exact same package deal in .308 with a synthetic stock for around $425 from Four Seasons a couple of years ago. The scope it comes will definitely need to be replaced, as others have said. I put a Nikon 3-9x40 on mine.

Anyway, I use this rifle on my NC hunting trips, where shots out to 300-400 yards aren't out of the question, and the Savage handles the task admirably.

I have a Savage Stainless Weather Warrior in .308 w/ the box mag and VXII 3x9 atop. It's super light and shoots sub MOA groups @100 yds after the break-in.

Bought it last year, took a 6 pointer in NY with it in Nov. and am looking to get another in .204 Ruger this year for coyotes.

Yeah I like it....

What scope does it come with? Are you tossing it? I could use one for a .22 or air rifle. Thanks.

Where in New England does one find this? Do people really take these shots on game around here?

You might be better off with the .17 Fireball, .17 Remington, or .22 Hornet if you intend to keep the pelt.

Just last year, I was sitting across a field watching the other side that led down a trail to a corn farm in Maine. If I had seen something, it would have easily been 300 yds to the other end.

So yes, there are plenty of places where that range is realistic.
