Saw a round butt E series at Patriot Arms today!

I love my 1911Sc E-series. I got lucky that 4 Seasons had one in stock when I called. This was a few months back when they 1st came to market and hard to find. It's a looker for sure!

From what I have seen I think modification would be needed for any other set of grips on it, but I could be wrong. I don't understand why its so much more money than the non round butt model that has the crimson trace lasergrips.

The standard e series is a steel frame. The bobtail is a scandium frame. The other scandium frame smiths I believe are the PD series, and they are around the same price.

Other than the small issue I had, I will tell you. This thing has absolutely no slop in the frame to slide fit, the trigger is nice and tight, and the reset is amazing. Absolute tack driver, and a pleasure to shoot.

It's a Bobtail dammit. Round Butt" is a term for shapely women or a certain kind of S&W revolver. [rofl]

Yeah, not the best pick by the Gun Name Dept @ S&W. Maybe Bobtail is a copyrighted name?

@BE4TNUT- the frame has scandium in it...that's more expensive per ounce than gold...

Bobtail is indeed an Ed Brown trademark, hence the S&W "Round Butt". They should call the standard ones square-ass.

I must have overlooked or forgot the difference in teh frames. It was a while ago I compared them. I can attest to a tight fitting slide to frame, and the trigger felt great compared to the slop that comes in the 1911ES.
