The only known pictures of my dad in uniform were found on slides, for which I bought this slide scanner: http://www.amazon.com/Wolverine-Super-20MP-Digital-Converter/dp/B00GIDADP0

I BELIEVE he was Massachusetts Army National Guard or some Reserves unit, in the early 60s. He talked about operating a deuce-and-a-half wrecker and pulling Nike missiles out of their holes when those birds were decommissioned.

This is one of three pictures. Can I get some assistance identifying the unit patch and other militaria?

The diamond shaped patch is the old 26th "Yankee" Infantry Division patch. My Dad served in the MA National Guard during the 70s and 80s and wore that patch.

And he was a Specialist E-4 that had earned himself the Meritorious Service Medal and qualified as a Sharpshooter(?).
Can't make out the insignia on lapels.

National Defense Service Medal. Significant difference and makes sense for a solo ribbon.
