I think what make the one in the video so cool is how early it was made ('06), and the fact that it was produced by Springfield Armory itself as an in-house R&D project.

Definitely. One of the reasons I find guns from that time period so fascinating is that there was so much variety: automatic actions were a relatively new idea, so people were trying out all sorts of different things. Nowadays there is much more conformity, which is great for reliability but it is less interesting.
