I relocated to Southern NH from MA. First order of business was to purchase a AR.

I have been a longtime member of a popular shooting range in Woburn and would like to continue to shoot there while I wait for Pelham F&G to review my application.

I have applied for a MA non-resident LTC about a month and a half ago...waiting...

Once I get my MA non-resident LTC, can I bring my modern AR15 into Ma with a 10rd mag to go pew pew or am I breaking the law bringing a banned (according to Ma) rifle into the bay state to shoot at my club?

I doubt you purchased an assault rifle. Does it have a select fire switch?

Is your modern sporting rifle compliant with the MA AWB? Does it have more than one of the following?
  1. pistol grip
  2. bayonet lug
  3. grenade launcher
  4. flash hider or capable of accepting a flash hider
  5. folding or telescoping stock
If you answered yes to more than one of these, then no, you cannot bring it into MA unless the lower was manufactured prior to 13 sep 1994

And please never call it an assault rifle again

JHC, just move to NH![rofl2]
Buy a Massified upper, Magpul fixed carbine stock and 10 rd mags. If you really want to shoot here.
Also make sure you transport it in a hard case with locks on it.
Or just leave the AR in NH and shoot something else when here in MA.
I hear they still allow airsoft at the ranges in MA.[smile]

Most of the new, normal ARs you buy in NH are illegal in MA without neutering. You would probably have to f*** up your gun to legally bring it into mass it's not even worth it.

OP if youre adventurous, put it in a hardcase, lock it, keep it out of plain view and go to your club. How often are you stopped and searched by the police?

Think about the odds of getting caught, the consequences of getting caught and make your own decision.

You will just be risking a felony charge. All it would take is some busybody at the range to call the cops on you. If you end up in an accident, even if it is not your fault and the cops show up, you will be arrested. Too much risk. You left this socialist shithole for a reason. Just stay away now.

The more scary features, the more easily it just goes off on its own. Usually in a school zone or hospital.

I'm assuming there are some good ranges in the Medford, NH area to shoot an AR..;). Bring your bolt guns and lever guns to Woburn.

And on top of the insane restrictions on the RKBA we have the most insane politicians.

Th groupthink here is beyond retarded

I moved to NH and still shoot in MA sometimes....with a flintlock. A while ago I asked about coming into MA with a 22 bolt action rifle (no non-resident LTC) to take part in biathlon events and was told it would be ok. I still have my doubts that a State Trooper would just accept that explanation and let me go on my merry way in reality.

You cant expect the average MA cop on the side of the road to know what FOPA is or for the average prosecutor or judge in MA to care about it. Keep it locked up and tucked away and keep your mouth shut or leave it home.

No. The competition exemption has been debunked here a few times due a quirk in the law. Still plenty of people that make a risk assessment and do it anyway.
