Probably a graduation photo from boot camp or SOI. And marines don't wear CIBs; the corps isn't really into "tinsel" of any kind. I see your point, but he left the USMC as a corporal. So until I see a photo of him with two stripes, I'm not going to denigrate any combat service he might have picked up later. Regardless, I know a lot of people (not all of them SMs) with PTSD. It's not a terribly strong predictor of violent homicide.

NOR AM I re: any prior combat exposure. If combat PTSD was a predictor of violence there wouldn't be a human being left on earth especially after the Vietnam when millions of combat troops came home to the sound of one hand clapping. It's interesting most of the violence was directed at the VA's & hospital. PTSD was rediscovered in DSM-IV when it came out in 1989 IIRC

Sad all around, but she has no right to piss on anyone’s rights for any reason. The actual 2A is an agreement between citizens and the govt. The same for if, say, women helped elect a socialist ruler in the USA and he ruins the country - I don’t get the right to get rid of the 19A.

There were at least 5 off duty cops there. No one in the lefty media is talking about them. Silence. I understand and approve of going unarmed if you're there to get drunk and lucky. Still, the near blackout seems telling. They could fill hours of air time discussing that topic.

Sorry for your loss.
Now, GTFOOH with that BS. THE GUN DID NOT KILL the mentally f***ed up guy did. Murder is already against the law. LAWS do not stop anything or anyone from doing harm. And by the f***ing way, it's a RIGHT and its listed here. Don't like it then start the process !

Edit: I truly am sorry for that woman. I could nor would I ever want that type of pain or wish it on anyone. I hope she can find peace in some of her memories, if only for a short time. God Bless.

Agreed, except the 2A does not grant but enumerate your human right to protect yourself. No repeal process can take that away.

Excellent point. The founding fathers argued over not doing the Bill of Rights because it might be interpreted that the .gov grants whatever rights the people have instead of people having "every right" and the .gov can only take some away. They did a pretty good job in the B of R of making it clear they were listing rights the .gov could not take away, but I guess not good enough for 2018.

I really wanted to wear my very distinctive Marine Corps jacket this weekend to celebrate the Marine Corps birthday and Veterans Day. In the past it's always been a great way to connect with people and spark conversations, but I'm not sure it would be well received by some just now.

Wow.
He had been updating his Instagram story as he fired shots inside the bar, killing 12 people

Sounds like he was maybe a born again anti? Or just a shitty communicator.
The friend, Rebekah Homokay, told The Wall Street Journal that he set his sights on the Marines because he 'loved America and loved guns.'

His Facebook post read: 'I hope people call me insane... (laughing emojis).. wouldn't that just be a big ball of irony?

'Yeah.. I'm insane, but the only thing you people do after these shootings is 'hopes and prayers'.. or 'keep you in my thoughts'... every time... and wonder why these keep happening...'

The remarkable post, which uses language common to gun control advocates, could not be independently confirmed by DailyMail.com.

Long, a Marine combat veteran who investigators said may have had PTSD, was a regular at the bar where the shooting occurred, several of his friends said.

I feel sorry for the shooting victims. They shouldn’t be dragged into the light after one of these things. Personally I think people should put more effort into protecting our children on the school buses. 5 fatalities due to drivers being distracted. We don’t put seatbelts on school buses. They have the worse drivers. I’m sorry I hijacked this thread. People need to get their heads out of their asses and understand if someone wants people dead they will find away.

that's what he wrote, so the guy was being a pawn to try to advance gun control or what ?

Could also be talking about the mental health angle maybe? Unless Im reading that wrong. Like he's saying "Im crazy, other shooters were crazy, but theyre doing nothing about dealing with peoples mental health issues, just throwing out empty thoughtsnprayers."

The biggest problem here is our vets are not getting the correct treatment if any. Piss poor VA admin etc.. How can that be in the USA? Surely we can do better for our vets. USA owes it to them. I don't have the answers but it sure as shit f***ed up.

That paragraph throws more red flags than a damn bull fight.
Holy shit.

This is because it would go against the MSM narrative that more gun laws save lives. The reason those cops werent carrying is because California law bans carry in primarily alcohol serving establishments (a caveat exists for some restaurants as long as the patron isnt consuming alcohol).

Basically, California gun laws killed 12 people this week.

I know several cops and they always carry off duty. These cops would have been strapped if it hadnt been for California's asinine laws and most of these lives would have been saved.

But lets not let pesky facts get in the way of our inevitable march to disarmament.
