Shooting in CA

The suspect has been identified as 29-year-old veteran and former Marine David Ian Long,

Sorry to see this Marine snapped, NO LAW WOULD HAVE PREVENTED THIS! NOT A SINGLE ONE!...the true crime here is this man didn't receive the help he needed.
BINGO

Not sure what I'm looking at? Is this what a cop looks like now when they RESPOND to crimes already committed? Interesting.... Because if you ask me, this jack-wagon looks just like a goddam GI-freakin'-JOE character from Iraq...

Go ahead, tell me one thing a cop can do....that I can't do for myself. Because keeping the public safe, sure as sh!t isn't one of them.

I do not think you have a watch matching your outfit, though.

Where you been, man?

Does he have a tax stamp for that rifle?

Seriously, I don't think the average American (who's not a screaming leftist, those aren't average), is going to look at this incident and think we need to disarm all our vets. They might even think, hey, maybe we shouldn't send our young kids to friggin' hell holes that make them come home and do this?

The Dems need to be careful with this one, you go stomping all over vets at the same time you're gung ho to ship them to hell holes, it's not going to poll well.

Meh. Fits the narrative. "Take all the guns away from former military."

Tinfoilers will be all over this, "former military are prime targets for MKULTRA expiriments etc".

It'll be fun to find out if the guy was on some kind of medication. There's a "fun" loose correlation between mental health patients and these kinds of
incidents and 9 out of 10 times there's some kind of drug there... doesn't mean "causation" but I find it interesting.

The other problem is the VA/DOD basically hangs these guys out to dry WRT their mental health and re-entering normal life after
combat operations. If this guy was a combat vet, and this incident came off PTSD, etc... the government failed. They failed him and by proxy the public and all of these victims. They CREATED the problem.

WOW JUST WOW

Update 3: More details have emerged about the shooter, 28-year-old Ian David Long, who opened fire at let off at least 30 shots from a Glock with an extended magazine. Long, a former-marine, was dressed in all black during the shooting and eventually turned the gun on himself after police officers arrived.

Police say they have "had several contacts with Mr. Long over the years for minor offenses."

He was a victim of assault and battery in a bar in 2015. The police then confirmed that in April of this year, officers were called to Long's house: "officers went to his house, he was somewhat irate, acting a little irrationally."

The officers then called out their Crisis Intervention Team, "and mental health specialists who met with him, talked to him, and cleared him, didn't feel he was qualified to be taken under 5150."

OK yeah- the guy does look like he graduated top of the class from Gecko45's Mall Ninja Institute but you should consider that sometimes when crazy shit like this happens they don't really know if there was only one perp or if the perp is somehow disguised as a victim. As mentioned before, Ventura County Sheriffs are a good bunch & I wouldn't be so quick to throw them into the NES 'JBT' bucket.

*****

Still curious why this venue, on this night...

He's dressed less operator than NES operators on a weekend 3-gun match.

Not that it would have prevented him from committing mass murder, but I'm somewhat curious if he acquired the weapon legally after his latest run-in with law enforcement?

The government screws up everything it does.

SO... if the narrative will be take all firearms away from war veterans why did we never see this kind of violence before? Lets go to a club and shoot everyone that moves mentality after WWII??

World War II
Overall, 25% of casualties were caused by war trauma, and this rate was even higher– 50%– for soldiers engaged in long, intense fighting (PBS, 2003). In fact, so many soldiers were affected that psychiatrists were confronted with the reality that psychological weakness had little to do with subsequent distress in combat. Thus, terminology changed from “combat neurosis” to “combat exhaustion,” or “battle fatigue” (Bentley, 2005). Reflecting the consensus that all soldiers were vulnerable to battle fatigue due to their environments, the U.S. Army adopted the official slogan, “Every man has his breaking point” (Magee, 2006).

In 1947, the U.S. Army released a documentary, entitled Shades of Gray, about the causes and treatment of mental illness during WWII. This documentary, shown in the following eight YouTube clips, indicates the consensus at that time that no one is immune to mental illness, and that environmental factors play a large role in the development of psychological problems. Combat exhaustion was thought to encompass such symptoms as hypervigilence, paranoia, depression, loss of memory, and conversion.

From the same source I already posted:
Fortunately, as our understanding of PTSD has evolved, so too has the treatment for this disorder. No longer are patients prescribed rest alone; rather, several empirically-based treatments are available. VAs primarily use two treatments known as Cognitive Processing Therapy and Prolonged Exposure Therapy. Cognitive Processing Therapy involves educating patients about PTSD symptoms and cognitive changes in the areas of safety, trust, control, intimacy, and esteem. Patients are also helped to identify their negative, irrational thoughts and learn skills for challenging and countering these beliefs (Department of Veteran Affairs, 2009). Prolonged exposure therapy also begins with education about PTSD, but focuses on helping patients to relive their trauma in their imagination, while simultaneously practicing calming breathing exercises they have learned, in order to reduce the emotional distress they feel in response to traumatic memories (Department of Veteran Affairs, 2009). Both treatments have been studied with randomized controlled trials, with favorable results (Department of Veteran Affairs, 2010).

Additionally, some psychotropic medications, such as Zoloft (sertraline) and Paxil (paroxetine), have been approved by the FDA for the treatment of PTSD, but are primarily used when therapy alone is ineffective (Friedman, 2007).
