Shot my friends Para LDA .45 yestreday

The LDA trigger is neat but I don't really see what the point of it is, at least not on a gun that's already basically just like a 1911. I bet it uses a system
similar to the one in my HK P2000, where the mainspring is "pre cocked" and then pulling the trigger "unloads" the mainspring's stored energy into the
hammer.

how do they manage to make a DAO gun have such a smooth approx 2 lb pull?
It gives the comforting "hammer down carry" configuration but, as mentioned by drgrant, pulling the trigger does not provide the energy used to ignite the primer - the only extra work being done is moving the hammer back (which is under FAR less spring tension that in a traditional double action). The energy used to set the primer off on the next trigger pull is provided by the slide motion of the previous shot, not the pulling of the trigger.

The term "double action" has lost some of it's meaning in recent years, with bid requirements and marketing having significant impact on what a gun is called - combined with the invention of new operating mechanisms that don't fit cleanly into either category.

Yeah those LDA triggers are pretty sweet if you're looking for a hammer-down alternative to traditional 1911 cocked and locked.

I would've kept my Para C6 LDA if it had been more reliable.
