I find myself with a Marlin Model 90 OU shotgun, solid barrel, double triggers, 12 gauge. I'd bought an old but good condition Marlin Model 60 22 rifle for plinking, and this got thrown in. It's a bit rough, missing the front sight bead, some rust on the outside (but not inside) the barrel, edges on the top barrel mouth are a bit scuffed, and bottom of butt has a 3/4 " chunk of wood gone at the plate. Otherwise, it seems to function fine. I don't know shotguns that well, although I've heard some shotgun people like the old Model 90's. With the solid barrels this would have been made between 1950 and the discontinuation year 1958. Apparently lot of dads had them then, so there is some sentimental value to them, but... ...is this really worth restoring?

Oh, and if anyone knows numbers and dates, this one is stamped H2327

The Marlin Model 90 is a real nice shotgun. I would spend a little money on it and keep it. You could even have new fiber optic sights put on it and slip on a recoil pad to cover up the chipped stock.

yeah I am hearing from folks that these are very good shotguns. I may have to take a crack at restoring it. Interesting idea about the fiber optics. Thanks

barrel change

Can I get a new 20 gauge barrel from like say Numrich and fit it on this gun? Just wondering if they are interchangable.

The "H" apparently means made in 1950 by the way.
