As you all know ive drunk some glockaid.

Ive been looking at my two 19's and my lonely 17. Ive got 6 preban mags for the 19 and 1 for the 17.

Is there anything a glock 17 can do that a 19 can't fill its role? Instead of having to get prebans for both should i consolidate my glocks into just 26 and 19's for cost wise?

Both the 19 and 17 feel great but since im no leo do i need a fullsize?

It would free up money to get my first .45 whatever that may be.

If you plan on trying USPSA or any type of action pistol shooting, the 17 is the better choice. Although the 19 wouldn't put you at any incredible disadvantage

Other than a 2-round advantage (not a big deal in my opinion for most foreseeable needs) you should consider which one you shoot better, and generally feel more comfortable/confident with.

For me, the G17 just does not sit in my hand as well as the G19/26. It tends to point higher, forcing me to push down.

In my early years I would have advised you to keep it and just find the money for a 1911. But these days I look more at what I can reasonably afford (and use) and don't worry about collecting more guns.

You can also use your 17 prebans for your 19...I carry my 19 with 15+1 but my 2 spare mags on the belt are preban G17 mags.
If you are in a situation where you need to fire more rounds after you emptied the G19 mag...no one cares if the new mag sticks out a bit ;)

I would say never consolidate, unless you have to. I have never met anyone who has sold a gun and not regretted it. I have sold a couple guns I hated, but I regret it now for different reasons, most of which is I have wished I had them when taking new shooters to the range for their own experience.

If you need a new 45, go for it, but if you can wait, I would. I would never sell a gun I liked unless it was a complete redundancy. Having a longer bbl isn't a bad thing. Personally if I had to, I would sell one of the 19's to save the 17.

I'd keep the Glock 17. Use it for USPSA or IDPA. The skills you learn while shooting it in competitions will help you shoot your 19s better.

Cant sell the 19's sorry, ones my winter carry, and ones a rare austrian proofed one.

I'll sit on the 17 till i shoot a .45 i really love . I honestly dont shoot it as much since i got the 19.

Did you try a Glock 30 yet?

If you haven't tried a G21 or a G21SF I urge you to give one a try. If you are looking for a carry 45 the G30 can't be beat. But something tells me you probably already know that. :D

I told my brother to suck it up and get a ltcA. So i can give him the glock 17. The grip fit him better, than the 19.

This way we keep it in the fam. Lol!

And it frees up myself for more purchases:)

Are you interested in adopting an older guy who cleans guns real well? [smile]

Ditto, but I seriously doubt that a full size 21 or 30 will be very comfortable for you. The SF models are a good amount thinner from front to back.

I traded a S&W 1911 for my 21SF and don't regret it at all.

I love my G17 and would never sell it. It is a rare first gen Austrian proofed one, but still. I do want to get my hands on a G19 sometime soon. Keep all your glocks
