Why would the cartel's bring that type of attention on themselves? Buses, cars?
1. Rival cartels disrupting each other's business by forcing the government to intervene in a rival's turf.
2. Cartel's extortion of the government Pablo Escobar style.
3. Foreign interference in Mexico to generate instability for political gain and or profit.

Oh well... no more nature walks in la Zona Norte. TJ was pretty dicey 10-15 years ago, can't imagine going there now. Yet, I just read an article a week ago about the steady flow of folks moving from San Diego to beat the high cost of living. Cheap isn't necessarily a bargain.
