Recently purchased a 226 with e2 grips. Love the gun....the only issue I'm having is my poi vs poa compared to my other firearms, mostly glocks. I find my poi is alittle low, which forces me to cover my target with my front sight (and rear). I almost need to aim low, then raise my poa and then fire.
I have a sig 938 and that is not the case with that firearm. Should I get a taller front sight to compensate to raise my poi but not my poa? Any advice? Just hard to acquire the target and sight when I'm completely covering it...

1) What # sites are installed? Fron and rear please post the #'s

2) benchrest and have someone else shoot ot to confirm POI

3) if POI low call Sig they will either mail you a taller rear sight or sece the gun for you. sig honors full repairs if gun purchased within 1 year, after that owner pays shipping

BTW, taller front sight will lower the POI.

Yes you are correct. I would need a taller rear, or shorter front. Gun is brand new, so I'll check the sight #s

Glock and Sig factory plain sights, for the most part =

I just hate them, they're too vague and nebulous.

FWIW my wife's P320 shot 4-6" low at just 10 yards. no joke. it was terrible. somewhat interesting because my P320 full size had no such issues and it's not a problem I have heard of.

IIRC her P320 had a #6 front and #8 rear or something sort of strange along those lines. after calling Sig they shipped us a few replacement sights. she likes a 6 o'clock hold, so I ended up installing an 8 front and I think 10 rear. to me her gun shoots too high for my liking but she digs it.

i'm convinced her P320 was built on a friday afternoon and they ran out of #8 sights so their staff were like "meh whatever let's use up those #6 sights"

That wouldn't surprise me if there were some QC issues like that floating around.

OMG - Dr Grant is a sight snob. LOL.

I guess if you are not used to "combat" sights ( LOL ) they could take some getting used to. My 226 was my first handgun so I guess I just grew accustom to the sights. You just know there was a board meeting and they decided to not call them tactical sights or some other cool name.

LOL. I'm hoping he drops some major knowledge so I can learn

I could still shoot the guns with the horrible sights on them. They weren't completely unusable, just annoying. Hell I still even have a few Glocks I haven't gotten around to changing yet or the $ to changing them out yet.

The biggest thing was always at distance. Like there was a gong at 50 yards at one of the clubs I used to shoot at- if my gun had a clean, sharp sight picture on it it made hitting the gong a lot easier.... ball in cup, or dotting the bar... lol good luck with that. I suppose it could have been worse though, I could have had an XS Big Dot, where the entire front of the thing is the size of a dinner plate at 50 yards.

Never understood the popularity of the Big Dot. What sights are recommended by Dr. Grant ? 4 out of 5 Doctors recommend .... fiber optic ?
