Sig 227

You'd think they'd start shipping the P224 that they introduced last year at SHOT before they introduced anything else new.

Sig is very selective on what guns come available here in Mass....only a fraction of their of products become available here....I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for anything from Sig

I don't really see the P224 anywhere. They've only shipped a few, I wouldn't exactly call it 'in production'. Yet they're going to introduce another gun that likely won't be shipping for over a year.

Sounds like a yawnfest in the making. Might be cool if SIG ever makes the SA trigger not suck. If their p series guns got triggers even half as good as the one in the X5 competition they'd sell tons of them.

I actually like the SRT trigger (sure they need a bit of polishing,) but I agree that it would be awesome if they made the SAO trigger more widely available.

I'll still buy a 227 either way though. I'll probably pass on the 224.

My only problem with Sigs nowadays is I pick them up at gun shops and dry fire them, and every P series I pick up has a different level of weight on their SA trigger. I've picked up a very FEW guns that broke clean at probably 5 pounds or less and there were others that probably broke at like 6-7+. There seems to be no consistency in the product anymore. When the Sig SA trigger gets too heavy I end up punching the snot out of it to run the gun and pulling the muzzle off target. It's a less crappy version of the same problem I have with Berettas. The only sigs of mine that I really miss are the two old P228s, the P220, and the X5 I had.... all of those guns had SA triggers that easily broke at less than 5 pounds. (With the X5 being nothing short of phenomenal. ) The P226 I had was on the edge (although it was shootable for me) and the P229s I had were both stupidly heavy triggered, although one was far worse than the other. Those two guns I was always pulling shots to the left no matter how hard I fought with the thing to try to get used to pressing the trigger with -JUST- enough force to make it fire.

My SRT is MUCH grittier than the stock trigger was. Definitely will be doing some polishing. The reset is exceptional though.

Well, you got a brand new sear with your SRT kit so it's not really surprising that it's not worn in as nice as the original one that had (how many?) rounds on it. A little bit of polishing will go a long way. Or just pull the trigger a few thousand times until is wears in. The other thing that I notice is the new short mainsprings feel a little "stacky" in DA mode. I think some people perceive that as grit. I prefer to retrofit the old style long ones. Even though they're kind of a PITA to install they feel smoother to me.

My first range visit with the P227 Carry happened today. I hadn't handled a .45ACP for quite a long time, and this is the first SIG I've had in my hands. It was fun to feel the thump again, after handling mostly .40s. It points naturally for me, and the accuracy is spot on. The grip melts in my hand, but the texture is a bit raspy. I'm used to shooting striker fired guns with the MA trigger, and I had no issue with the DA/SA arrangement. The DA trigger is smooth, with no nasty stacking. The SA is like butter. Sight picture was to my liking as well - quick to pick up and align. There's a bit of flip, but it didn't seem to effect my timing or accuracy on follow up shots. Ammo used was WWB & Aguila 230gr FMJ. No SD ammo through it yet. Function was flawless. A quick inspection showed some brass marks on the ejection port but no shavings anywhere. The magazines fit without issue, and release readily. I'm thinking a longer barreled gun might be more fun for hitting targets with, but that's not why I picked up this P227.
