Sig 238

We've got a .380 Government Model. Nice little gun.

I'm glad to see that Sig is going to build one. Dunno why Colt didn't think of it themselves.

I have a Colt Mustang Pocketlite. I would buy that gun in a minute. To bad it has to make it into production then we will still have to wait a year or two to get it MA approved.

Maybe this year the p250 will make the list.

Honestly right now I am skeptical of it though. It is not on the Sig website. Also the only photo I can find is a pdf screenshot one someones machine. Almost wants to make me say photoshop. Can anyone confirm its real?

The same thought crossed my mind.

I find it a bit hard to believe that Sig would name a SA, 1911 style gun as a P series too.

This was posted by BCFLLC on sigforum.com I'm still skeptical.

I guess if you were a SIG dealer you too would have gotten your 2009 dealer price list..

I had to use PAINT to extract the picture from adobe..That is the easiest way to pull the picture.

FYI< SIG will be taking preorders at SHOT Show for delivery in June/July per my commercial sales rep.

Even if it is real personally I hope it is. We still them to approve it in MA anyway [thinking] We would be looking at the end of 2010 or 2011 till we could probably buy one.

Why would he lie about this?

I don't know about guns but with cameras, the internet rumor mill is a bizarre thing. People spend a lot of time creating images of products they want and some of them are very realistic looking.

I will say that if that P238 image is a pshop, it's very well done.

That would be fantastic. I hope they will (if the rumor is true) make it with 7 round mags w/grip extension. I have a Colt Government .380 and it is fantastic. 3/4" thin! Great summer piece.

Not a huge SIG fan but this model designation got my attetion. Couple things pop out at me about this picture/name though...

Why would they use a "P" model designatio for an offshoot of thier GSG line? From the picture on the link, it looks quite computer generated on my screen. The grip screws especially look superinposed over the grip panels. Also in the picture, the trigger appears to be canted upwards. Maybe I've missed this on other Sigs but that trigger just doesn't look right. Rear sight looks awfully tall for such a configuration as well.

If you read the OP, he scanned the picture from a Sig catalog. So it is not surprising that there may be some artifacts in the picture. That might explain the look of the screws.

I agree that the trigger looks canted upwards and probably not fit correctly. The trigger would look very different from all Sig models except the 1911. This is effectively a remake of an old Colt design, so the action (and thus the trigger) goes back to the Colt design. The trigger moves directly to the rear, it does not pivot like traditional Sig triggers.

As for the height of the rear sight, this is a very small gun. Standard size sights will look out of proportion.

OK, skeptics, how does that crow taste? Spotted at the Shot Show:

Reply from Sig Sauer

I sent an inquiry to Sig and asked if they had plans to make this gem Mass Compliant... I received this response...

Dear Sir,
We do plan to submit this pistol to the MA DOJ for approval. This may take up to a year before we find out if it will be approved or not.

Regards,
Natasha

We must be patient I guess....[crying]

I've already got a couple .380's, but this thing looks smaller than a PPK/s. I'm guessing MSRP will be around $600. Anyone else have a guess?

The only Sig I ever liked the feel of was the 232. All the other Sig models just don't feel right to me. Too high a barrel axis, strange grip, etc...

And so I'll wait with fingers crossed for the 238 to become available.

232 is one of my favorites. When I point at something with a natural grip and stance I tend to hit dead center. No adjustments... it just feels right and hits what I'm aiming at.

I heard they were moving production to the US. I'd rather the German made...

Of course the downside is finding ammo...

Yup, production is coming to the US on the 232 and they are dumping the European style mag release.

The Colt Mustang is a nice little BUG, my friend has one and it's a nice shooter. I will be getting one of these P238's when they become MA compliant... it shouldn't be long now [hmmm]

MSRP on the base model is around $550, which is surprising coming from SIG. There are two P238's on gunbroker right now with a buy it now for $599.

Dear Sir,

We have plans to submit the 238 to the MA DOJ at the end of the year.
It can take up to 6 months before we hear back from them.

Regards
Samantha

there is at least more of a timeframe than when FCI Corp contacted them. maybe a little less than a year and it will be kicking around in MA.
