Hi everyone im new hear to the fourms. I have a sig p225 and resently saw and handled a M11 A1. I love my 225 but I have a problem. I want to buy the m11 but would have to trade the 225 in and add about $700. The other option is send the p225 off to Sig and have them do a enhanced action package, the sig service package, the short reset trigger, and polish the feed ramp( this would be about $600 from sig and also 2 extra magazines).I'm wondering if anyone hear has sent there gun out to sig and if they where happy with the results. I know the p225 will never be hi cap or have the anti corrosion inturnals but I love the gun threw and threw I'm just looking for a little guidance and seeing what others may think.

Thank you for your time,
Jeff Pratt

The p225 is a fine gun just like it is. If you have one of the older ones that has a hard time feeding hollow-points, you can get the feedramp re-profiled and polished for $50 bucks (plus shipping) here: http://www.customizedcreationz.com/sigp6p225parts.html (EDIT: Or just find a good self-defense ammo that feeds well. Speer Gold-dots and / or Cor-Bon PowR Ball will probably work fine without any modifications to the feed ramp.) -JS

The Sig action package isn't worth the money in my opinion. You can polish the internal parts yourself for free....

The SRT trigger is a nice upgrade, but that too can be done yourself if you have a basic clue and about $50 for the parts. http://www.topgunsupply.com/sig-sauer-srt-kit-p220.html

(Technically Sig doesn't sell an SRT kit for the p225, but I can confirm that it works just fine in mine.)

BTW, the M11 is based on the p228 not the p225. You can still find excellent p228's used but unfortunately they're not made any more as far as I know.

Err.. you say you would have to add $700 after trading in your 225? That sounds like you're getting hosed on the price of the M11, the trade, or both. Find a new dealer or a new buyer.

The M11's are going for retarded money. All of the .mil leghumpers want them becuase they're "mil-spec" or somesuch bullshit.

Keep the p225, keep your eyes open for a used p228 to keep it company. The M11 is just over-priced marketing for suckers.

jasons is right on. i have a p6 and put a srt kit in for a 220 polished the internals and changed the main spring. i am still playing with the feed ramp trying to get it to feed hydro shocks reliably.. as far as the m11, to much. fine a good shape 228, add night sights and a srt for 150. just about the same gun for less.

Wow guys thanks for all the help. I will diffinitly will look into doing this instead of sending it off to Sig also I guess I'm not very comfertable doing work on my own gun so ill have to figure out what to do here. Also the shop was GFA arms in natick were I was looking at the M11 A1. Glad I didn't just trade it in on a whim

If you want to use a gunsmith, there are few better than Greg Derr who is a world-class pistol shooter and a member here.

I've run a ton of Powerball through my '83 P6 with no issues.

If I had a choice I'd rather have the P228. The only thing I don't like about the P228 is if you have large hands you and smash the shit out of one of your fingers if your pinky lands on the bottom edge of the grip, sometimes trying to quickly reseat a mag will result in your finger getting pinched between the mag and the grip frame/magwell.

Yeah, that stuff feeds just as good as FMJ. It's good stuff but a little over-priced for my liking. The Speer Gold Dots feed ~almost~ as well in tricky guns, and can be found for less money. (You can even find just the bullets if you prefer to load your own.)

Nothing feeds worse that hyrdoshocks in small guns in my experience. Never had much luck with them in a compact.

He did my p6 barrel. Before it wouldn't feed any flat or hollow points. Afterwards it ate anything. It was well worth the money in my opinion.

Seriously? I haven't priced them. If that's the case just hold off and price will come down. There is no way you should have to pay that much more.

EDIT

That isn't me doubting you, that's me expressing disgust at the price of the M11

Haha the P250 I bought 560 for the gun with night sights and 100 for the extra 2 mags I got ripped off never going back to that shop o and as a after thought I was walkin out the door he offered to sell me the 40 and 9 exchange kit after I had bought the mags If I had known I wouldn't have bought te mags and spent a couple extra bucks on the kit
