So, I am holding and looking at my Sig229 tonight and I noticed that the takedown lever on the right side has broken off-WTF. Anyone ever had this happen to them. Also I suppose I am going to have to send this off to Sig. What is that process like. I heard they have shitty costumer service. Any experience or suggestions would be great.

I had zero problems with SIG customer service. I bought a 226 used that hit 4" above point of aim at 50'. I called SIG, sent it in FedEx, got it back relatively quickly with a test target.

Actually, that's the first negative talk I heard about the fine folks in Exeter. I guess YMMV.

I'd send it in.

And how did you get a Sig Sauer to break! That's like stopping a Timex watch! [wink]

I have never had any bad experiances or better yet no experiances. I serached the issue and there was a thread on Sig forum discussing the issue. I have no idea how it broke. I just looked at it and it was broken. I guess I am that ugly.

As a SIG armorer, I've had zero problems getting parts from SIG in a timely manner. You being the end user, could probably get it fixed for free if you send it in or drive it up to Exeter, NH. If you don't want the expense of Fedex, you can always get the part & try to do it yourself through Brownells or call Exeter and buy the part direct. If you want to mail it up to Exeter, it's cheaper for an FFL to use the USPS insured than any other method.
Take care and shoot straight

Because the take down lever had broken off and required a cut to be made in the stub in order to be turned so the gun could break down I just took it to four seasons. They had it done the same day.

Take to fs guns they can do the repair

+2. Jimmy will probably fix it pretty quickly and it won't cost a lot.

I think all you have to do is rotate it and pop it out, IIRC, I just forget how far you have to rotate it.
