Hi guys,

I just got my first 1911, a sig target model in all stainless. Aside from shooting my fathers colt 1911 when I was 10, 15 years ago, im pretty much a 1911 noob.

I noticed when I was playing around with it that its really hard to eject live rounds. When I try to rack the slide, it needs a fair amount of pull to get it to rack. Is this common with 1911s?

I also was having some issues getting the first round to chamber.

Is it ok to shoot reloads through this? Or should I stick to factory ammo?

Sorry if I sound like a dope, rather be safe than sorry.

If anyone could chime in id appreciate it. Im up in randolph new hampshire on vacation and I want to shoot tomorrow but want to know if I have to go buy some stuff.

Thanks [grin]

I have the same gun and a lesson I learned the hard way to use brass ammo only. I've fired reloads with no issue but Blazer ammo was nothing but problems. Spend the extra money per box. I know it sounds obvious but make sure you keep the weapon clean. 1911s don't operate well if neglected.

My Sig 1911 was really tight when I first got her. After 600 rounds she broke in nicely. I have run at least 1000 reloads through her without any problems. Sig 1911's are quality. You will be very happy with your purchase.

I have issues with FTC... and it isnt a limp wristing issue. I believe it is a factory magazine issue. Sights were off a little from the factory, but other than that, seems like a nice piece. It is also my first 1911, and I added some new grips to dress it up alittle (German Silver).
